HHS PA EXECUTIVE MEETING 12/03/20

HHS PA EXECUTIVE MEETING

12/03/20 12-12:30pm

Present: Erin Ratner (President), Marisa Castagno (President), Klara Naszkowska (VP), Christopher Minnick (Treasurer), Stephanie Assuras (Secretary), Megan Coryat (Secretary); Absent: Sophie Winborne

Financial Report:

  • Christopher has documentation from the school to get access to the bank account. Funds should be more than $4000.

Current Issues/Tasks:

  • Website should be going live tomorrow. We can provide any feedback to Erin.

  • General parent meeting had good attendance (10+) the Friday after Mr. Reilly’s check-in, less so the Monday evening at 5pm.  We will consider after sing-a-long instead of Friday afternoon but will keep the Monday evening option for now. Items brought up at meeting included the possibility of holding the annual gingerbread house event virtually.

  • Erin awaiting for response from Mr. Reilly about gingerbread house annual tradition. Consider PA providing funds to send it out to those who need it. He is planning some sort of holiday festivities.

  • Sing-a-long continues tomorrow, issues were presented to Mr. Reilly.

Fundraising:

  • Erin told Scholastic we will not participate in bookfair, they sent information for virtual options. Marisa provided information about Word Up Community Cookshop popup.

  • Discussed feelings about limiting/eliminating fundraising given the pandemic and financial challenges. Friends of HHS, nonprofit vehicle by which people could give money (e.g., Amazon) was taken over by another parent, Gretchen, who had not provided updates. This could be an avenue for donations given the decision to focus less on direct fundraising via asking families.

  • Read-a-thon fundraiser revisited with the idea that fundraising might not be the objective and can be optional.

  • Consider fundraising opportunities that do not require HHS family donations.

  • Christopher spoke with lobbyist from Walmart who offered to try and secure funds for HHS families. Discussed the possibilities of donations from this type of organization (e.g., donate gingerbread houses, general food donations, cash).

  • Consider emailing elected officials we have worked with in the past. Christopher will send email and copy others like councilmember Mark Levine.
