Family engagement is an important part of life at WBLS. Throughout the year, families are invited into the school for hands-on workshops that offer a closer look at what students are learning and share practical ways to support that learning at home.

Workshops have included opportunities for families to explore math games and problem-solving strategies with our teachers, learn more about classroom curriculum, and participate alongside their children in hands-on activities.

Our community partners also help bring learning to life for families. Salvadori, one of our in-school partners, introduces students to science, technology, engineering, art and architecture, and math (STEAM) through collaborative, project-based learning. Family workshops extend that experience beyond the classroom, giving parents and caregivers the chance to take part in design challenges, experiment with the same kinds of hands-on activities students encounter in school, and better understand the thinking and skills behind the curriculum.

These workshops are part of a broader WBLS tradition of welcoming families into the school as partners in their children’s education.
